Relaxed. Direct. Human.

I help people who are tired of feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that trauma or past experiences have left behind. If you are here, something’s probably not working the way you want it to, and you’re looking for someone who will be direct with you about how to change that.

I am a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker in Kansas, as well as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor. Being dually licensed allows me to treat both mental health concerns and substance use concerns, without having to refer out to another clinician or program.

My focus areas are trauma, adult ADHD, substance use, and working with people who have criminal legal system involvement-whether that’s a past conviction, current probation or parole, or the fallout of navigating those systems. These areas overlap more than people expect, and I’m comfortable working with all of it at once rather than referring you out the second things get complicated.

My Approach.

I utilize CBT, DBT, and solution-focused therapy modalities because they get results, and I’ll tell you honestly if something isn’t working so we can try a different angle. Sessions are collaborative-you are not just talking at me, we’re figuring things out together. I prioritize utilizing a strengths-based approach and building up my clients’ confidence. I strive to build good rapport with my clients and center the therapeutic relationship around respect, realness, and compassion.

If you’re managing adult ADHD, that often means we are building real systems to help with your functioning, not just talking about focus. With substance use, I take a harm-reduction approach-I’d rather meet you where you are at than lose you over an ultimatum. Recovery doesn’t have to look one specific way to count. If trauma or legal system involvement is part of your story, I won’t make you explain or justify it before we get to work. You don’t have to perform as a “good client” here.

Background.

I hold a BA in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice, and an MSW (Master of Social Work). Before opening this practice, I worked in community mental health, where I completed assessments, individual therapy, and substance use treatment-which is where the harm-reduction lens and comfort with legal system involved clients really took shape. That time taught me a lot about what actually helps people versus what sounds good in a textbook-especially with clients who’ve had reason not to trust the system or a therapist before.

I have experience working with the following:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Trauma disorders

  • Schizophrenia

  • Bipolar Disorders

  • Substance Use

  • Legal system and child welfare involvement

  • Suicidality and self-harm

  • Survivors of domestic violence

  • Adult ADHD
